'ITER Vacuum Vessel Manufacture' Supply contract

The ITER Vacuum Vessel is a torus-shaped vessel confining tritium and vacuum and will be assembled on

the ITER site by welding together 9 VV sectors (Sectors), seven of which are the subject of this notice and

two of which are to be produced by the industry of another ITER Member. The Sectors, each 13 metres

high and 6.5 metres wide and 6.3 metres deep and each with a weight of 250 ton, are made from 60 mm

thick special grade 316 stainless steel, have a double-wall with a pressured inter-space The first Sector is expected to be

delivered in about 48 months from contract placement and the last in just over 66 months.
